Kirk Orellana, 23, of the 5200 block of South Maplewood Avenue, was shot on 51st Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 4:11 a.m.

Health care is not a ration of slavery. When you or a loved one needs medical care but can’t afford it or are denied coverage because of your pre-existing condition, giving them that health care is not treating them like cattle, giving them that health care is treating them like a human being, and treating others the way you would want to be treated.
